INTRODUCTION TO COACHING
EASTER COURSE
@ STANLEY HO SPORTS CENTRE

This course has been developed by the APSS Head Coaches and is designed for players 14-18 years old. It will introduce basic coaching concepts and give some practical coaching experience.

Suitable for anyone with an interest in sports coaching. You do not need to be an advanced soccer player!

Course outline:
• Tuesday 2nd to Friday 5th April.
• Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday will be at Stanley Ho Sports Centre, 1030-1330. Thursday will be 1400-1800 at AISHK helping with team management at a friendly tournament.
• Note – players need to attend all 4 days to successfully complete the course.


Course objectives:
• Introduce the roles and responsibilities of a coach.
• Understand the importance of planning and how to design a session plan.
• Show how to set up and deliver a basic session.
• Ensure participants are able to demonstrate these skills on the pitch.
• Practice team management.


The course will include:
• Daily theory sessions, e.g. child safety & welfare, coach conduct, managing children.
• Observation of APSS coaches delivering sessions.
• Planning & delivering to other course participants.
• Practice of team management on day 3.
• Practical delivery of activities on day 4, with feedback from the Head Coach.
• Written evaluation of performance with certification from APSS.


COURSE FEE: $1000
Students should be dressed ready to play and bring a notebook and refreshments.
